Q: Can you cut this with a Hotwire cutter?

Sculpture Block is made from polyurethane foam and not polystyrene. It is not recommended to use a hot wire cutter as the polyurethane foam has a much higher melting point than EPS or XPS foam. Using would cause Sculpture Block to burn rather than melt and produce fumes. It is recommended to use a blade or saw when attempting to cut Sculpture Block.

Q: Can this be carved with a plastic disposable knife?

Yes, you shouldn't have a problem using a plastic disposable knife.

Q: Will this resist breakdown from oil?

I used wax and cooking oil mix for the surface for plaster molding. It was fine.
