Hormonal acne’s demise
If you have tried everything under the sun to combat hormonal acne but nothing has worked so far, give this a try.THE RESEARCH: I had read that spearmint capsules (or tea if you drink enough) are effective at treating hormonal acne in women because they have an anti-androgenic effect (meaning it slightly reduces testosterone levels—testosterone is what causes hormonal acne). This sounded hard to believe so I read some articles on pub med and found that they are also effective at treating symptoms of PCOS...pretty amazing! The article that convinced me to give this a try was one where they compared the effectiveness of spearmint capsules to an oral antibiotic commonly prescribed for acne. They found that spearmint was just as effective as the antibiotics!MY RESULTS: Convinced, I ordered some spearmint capsules from amazon about four months ago. Within a week, I wasn’t gaining any acne and my other zits were clearing up and healing. After a few weeks, I only got some minor acne around the time of my period, but I’ve found that if I up the dose (take an extra tablet for the week prior to that time of the month), I could prevent most acne.
