How did we get here?
Ok, so my 8 year old daughter who adores cats asked what will happen to our elderly cat when he passes - I offered backyard burial and jokingly said we could probably stuff him too. She asked if we could do that. Trying to get out of that I said it is probably really expensive so we started looking up what it might cost. That sent us down a path to images of stuffed cats... and we found images from this book. OMGerd - after we saw a few of the pages from this book we were laughing so hard I ordered it immediately. This guy stuffed cats and rabbits and squirrels and hamsters and created "scenes" like a tea party with a bunch of cats wearing pearl necklaces and dresses. Apparently there was a museum back in the 1800's with all his stuff and these are pictures of the exhibits. It's crazy and funny and a little disturbing and going to be a coffee table book in my house until my wife puts the kibosh on it.

Just like they do it back home...
My parents' home is often compared to horror movies. Thanks to my mother, there are taxidermied animals, creepy dolls, and even stray antique doll parts laying around. It's not terribly unusual to find a set of eyeballs on the dining room table, or part of a mannequin hanging out in a hallway. I don't bring a lot of guys home to meet the parents. When I saw this book, I immediately thought of my mother. Some of the scenes look like they were pulled straight from her and my father's bedroom. I haven't given her this book yet, but it's all wrapped up and I predict it will be a huge hit. This is one of those books that's truly worth paying for in print form. It's full of interesting content and gorgeous, albeit creepy, full color photographs. If you appreciate creepy things or you need ideas for staging interesting scenes with dead animals, this book is for you!

Time Travel to Victorian England
This book is creepy and wonderful, bizarre and fantastic and the photos and descriptions are excellent. If you are fascinated by Victorian England and have an interest in strange museums and oddities you will love Walter Potter's Curious World of Taxidermy. I bought this used and it was not in great condition but who cares? I love it.

Good good good
Price on both the book and the shipping was great and the book was in great condition too.I actually did the stupid thing of "judging a book by it's cover" and purchased this and the one with the kitten tea party on the cover. Both are the same exact book except I think the Kitten tea party one has better photos...I could be wrong though.... anyways I should have read the title and everything else more carefully. It's alright though I gave the other copy to my little sister who seems to really like it.

Decent
The book was in good shape and it arrived on time. I wish it didn’t have the goodwill sticker on the back and a big barcode sticker over the front title (that wasn’t pictured), but I was able to take them off without really damaging the book.

Awesome book, for any person who loves the odd.
A marvelous and freaky little book I bought for a friend for Christmas and subsequently bought myself another copy with the giftcard she gave me. A true delight and a peek back into the victorian era that both men and women will love. The photos are beautifully lit and have long explanations about the artist and his work. A truly fascinating small coffee table book with hundreds of bright detailed photos and commentary. You wont be disappointed if you like any sort of oddity or victorian items.

Wonderfully Weird & Wonky
What to say about this little gem of a book.....the taxidermy work, skill, talent.patience, and skewed humor that went into all of Walter Potter's creations is mind boggling. He was a strange cat. Bless him. I adore this book, the pictures are great and so is the text. I'm so very glad I purchased it. It makes me gleefully giggle every time I look through it.

The BEST Coffee Table book ever!
Charming and eccentric! Wonderful photographs of Potter's work.(For Tweens and Adults) Some of the Taxidermy scenes are based on children's books from the past, that have a morbid, dark tone (similar to the original Grimm Fairytales) ~ so beautifully done!Even the tiny music instruments were handmade by Potter!A definite conversation, date night, cuddle up with your LIVE kitty read!
