THIS IS COMPLICATED so I wasn't sure how many stars to put... but - I bought this product a few years ago and loved it. When I did research about it back then, I learned that it was made in Taiwan and uses photobioreactors (large glass cylinders) to produce it (their site had photos) and this is one of the safest and cleanest ways to produce this product. Now it says it's made in the USA but so many reviews say it IS made in China - which could be Taiwan still - and if this IS the same company that uses photobioreactors then I trust the product. I read many of the one star reviews and most complained about the taste, but that doesn't mean anything because taste is subjective so can't be "good" or "bad" (and I did love the taste) but one review did say that ConsumerLabs did a report with the lead level being higher than may be considered safe (comment said results were 0.59 and AI said the safest is under 0.30 but in Europe it's 3.0 which doesn't make sense). i just thought I'd share the info I have.

A little more expensive than Kate Naturals per oz but it comes in a convenient container. Worth the purchase but if you're going to regularly purchase it would just to be support this firm over the competitors. Perhaps I'll be getting Kate Natural 2 lb and transferring to this one's container once it's empty

best to put in a smoothie...mixing with my yogurt did not work..

It's pure Spiralina , in the form of a very fine dark green powder. Mixes easily into smoothies. I drink it w water first thing in the morning every day, and also sometimes later if I feel I havnt had enough greens.. It's an ideal plant based protein full of omega fatty acids..One thing I would change would be packing it in something biodegradable instead of those big plastic canisters.

In the morning works instantly before or after breakfast. Personally, I recommend to drink it in the morning, you can add it to orange juice or smoothies. The effect can be noticeable if you also have a good diet low in sugars and moderate amounts of carbs.

I don’t write reviews, ever. I feel obligated though to tell people what happened to me so others might avoid the same outcome. I’m big into organics and superfoods. After seeing an ad for this one I thought this might be a great way to enhance my health journey. I was very excited to try it. When I first took it, I mixed it in with my protein powder. It did indeed smell a little fishy, but I figured that’s to be expected given its nature. I only took one leveled teaspoon, just one. This was in the morning. When evening came, I broke out in extreme chills and shakes. I felt very weak and had tremendous body aches. I also seemed to be very “off”, almost confused and delusional. Then I became extremely hot, but without running a temp. After that, these symptoms were consistent with nausea, stomach cramps, diarrhea bloating, and feeling lethargic. The worst of it all was that in my 35 years, this was the absolute worst case of insomnia I’d ever had. And because of this, I had been left sleep deprived for nearly 3 days. I find it odd that on the inscription it says all these side effects are “rare” in its probability. Yet, first time, first dose? Perhaps I am one of these very few and “rare” exceptions. If this product were truly organic and healthy, there would be no harm in taking it. Not to mention giving it to those who are pregnant and nursing. What does that tell you?
