Fox Racing Shox Low Friction Dust Wiper Kit 32mm

I installed the 32mm Fox Dust Wipers (#830-00-944 B) on a 2010 Fox RL 140mm fork with no problems. It took me about 3-4 minutes per leg to carefully level out the seals using a Unior seal installation tool. I left the seals sitting about 1/32" above flush (see inset pictures). I placed the fork on a rubber mat with a board underneath and used a plastic no-bounce hammer to strike the insert guide tool. I'd estimate I used no more than about 5 pounds of striking thrust. Earlier in the week I'd installed two sets of SKF flanged seals on two other forks. While the SKF (green) seals are a bit easier to install (due to the flange), I would not hesitate buying and installing these Fox seals in the future. My only caution is to be careful you don't drive the seals in too far (i.e., below flush). If you let the tool face bottom out against the fork, you will have driven them in too far. Additionally, it takes less force to continue to install the seals once they've started versus the initial force required to start them. Once they start, adjust your taps (side per side) to correct any leveling problems. Note: Fourth image has a picture of the Unior Guide Tool. I gave the wiper seals a 4 star rating due to them not being fool proof to install.

These do not work for my 2006 F80X. They, as others have pointed out of older 32mm forks, are a little bit too tight. The Fox service instructions say they should go in with thumb pressure. Fox does make a tool for installing them which is basically a fancy piece that can be substituted by a PVC pipe or something to apply even pressure. I used the old seals as the driver to apply even pressure. That did not help. They are so tight that they cannot even be forced into the 32mm holes. The holes, not so incidentally, were lightly sanded and cleaned of all old seal material. They were clean metal and then lubed with oil, then slick honey. Nothing worked. The seals began to deform when forced. I gave up. Even hammering the seal with even pressure could not force it in. Maybe if you have a shop press it might work. I'm giving up and going to SKF. Waste of money trying to stay with Fox. It should not be this hard.
