The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

The Legend of Zelda series is one of the most prolific franchises in gaming history, renowned for flawlessly integrating multiple genres into one beautiful experience. This lives up to the monolithic franchise by creating a world that can be traversed through puzzles and combat whilst embarking on a classic mission to save Hyrule.Many classic Zelda fans can rejoice at Nintendo creating another top-down Zelda game with puzzles and exploration at the heart of the experience. There are no unharmonious 'shrines' or segmentation of game mechanics unlike Breath of the Wild. This is faithful to the classic experience with a Nintendo styled twist; traversing the world as Zelda.The new open-world Zelda games are fantastic but who said you couldn't have your cake and eat it too! Three all-new mainline games on one console is a Zelda fan's dream, although this experience will be new to those who have only played BOTW or TOTK.Sadly, the combat in this game is sub-par as the 'cloning' mechanic does leave much to be desired. This is partly fixed by allowing Zelda to use the classic sword and bow that Link uses (for a limited time), but can lead to tedious combat in some areas. That said, most combat areas are avoidable or can be extremely well matched to this new game mechanic. The menu systems can also be cumbersome and should have allowed for better management of these 'echoes'.The performance does hitch frequently, this can be seen in Digital Foundry's technical review. This largely did not affect my enjoyment of this game, and should not deter you.Overall, this is a brilliant game that brings innovation to a classic formula. The Link's Awakening remake was burdened by being faithful to the original, whereas this game inherits some of the modern DNA of the newer games in the franchise.

This game is incredible and highly addictive also graphics look beautiful very impressed. Would recommend!

What happens if you squash 30-year-old open world games with Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom? Well, surprisingly, you get Echoes of Wisdom! It's amazing because it looks like those retro top-down-viewing Zelda games have been transformed to 3D, and all the exciting gameplay of BotW and TotK thrown in, but with a more relaxed gameplay that's more puzzle based than fighting oriented. And the graphics are awesome looking and very well designed. Personally I think it fits well into a middle ground niche for Zelda games on the Switch and I heartily recommend it to Zelda fans of all ages! Oh, and it's nice to see Zelda have her own proper starring role in a game too - while Link does appear sometimes it is definitely Zelda's game!!

As the title says it took a while for me to get into it, about 5 hours, as the beginning of the game contains so much long-winded dialogue. After that time, the real gameplay begins and then I became engaged with the story, exploring and collecting. The echoes make it so the game can be played in individual style. This was the easiest Zelda I've played by far out of about 12 but you can set your own rules (not a game feature) to make it more difficult or amusing etc. The graphics are great but the menu and item selector could have been better designed. Overall it is a very good game but despite the unique features it doesn't standout among other Zelda games for me.

I love these types of zelda games. I'm here for the puzzle/fun adventure types of games.I'm rubbish at button-mashing killing/jump scare games so I lean towards the more relaxing and slow paced type. This one gives me hours of relaxing game play rather than anxiety inducing palpations like most video games!

Actually loved this game, it’s a nice change from the normal Zelda games. You play as Zelda instead, you use ‘echoes’ which are copies of other items/monsters and use them to get about/fight. You can also turn into link for a brief time to do more damage if needed.Only improvement would be to make it longer, and add in a way to maybe select a few echoes to have as a quick access, as you have to scroll for ages to find the ones you want

Item came quickly and well packaged.I found this game to be way more fun than I anticipated,.It's not the longest game ever, but if you want to 100% it then I would say it's worth the money.I love Link, but felt that Zelda needed to be the hero for a change in the franchise.Hope they follow this up .
