Chromex 5 Ton 3 Jaw Hydraulic Gear Puller, Wheel Bearing Hub Removal Tool with Work Gloves and Storage Box

This product arrived quickly. I had a bad front wheel bearing on a 2002 f-150 and needed to pull the hub/ push the axel out. Initially the hydraulic pump would not really hold pressure. It would force the ram out and the collapse. Before purging the line and refilling with fluid I decided to just rapidly pump it to see how far out the ram would go. Doing so seemed to have primed the system and the ram functioned from there onward.After toying around with jaw post, I found a good fit for my particular hub. I pumped and pumped and pumped but my axel was really seized in there. The supplied handle just didn’t feel big enough. I had some bar stock that fit in it’s place that offered me a bit more leverage. After really laying into the larger handle a couple times the axel finally broke loose with a beautiful, loud pop.When I was disassembling the tool for storage I did notice the main threads on tool weren’t cut real cleanly. This caused the jaw base to seize. I broke it loose with a couple light taps from a hammer. While spinning off the base I had some metal slivers from the poorly cut threads imbed themselves in my fingertips. After tweezing them out I chased the threads with a file.The tool did what I needed it to do at a very reasonable price. I’ve been lazy and haven’t replaced the other hub assembly yet but I’m sure it’ll do the job when I need it to (plus that side came off easily enough when I changed a lower ball joint).This isn’t a professional quality tool but it should do the job for most home mechanics. While using it I did wonder if maybe I should have bought a stronger version. But in the end it worked. I would recommend chasing the threads with a file and lubricating them before use. Even with the threads and the hydraulic ram not functioning properly out of the box it still did the job for me after minimal work. Quality, value, and price considered, it’s an honest 3 of 5.

So this puller is amazing for how cheap it is. I bought this after breaking three different pullers in my 5.3 harmonic balancer. The jaws are strong, strong enough to crack the outer balancer ring.I ended up having to run a chain around the balancer and bolted up to the two prongs on the puller and it worked like a champ even with heat the seals held up and it pulled that seized balancer with a little effort. I would recommend this one for anything you need som extra power to pull apart.

I struggled to remove my passenger side front Hub on my 1999 Dodge 2500 4x4. It was Frozen solid! Heat banging cursing, Nothing worked. I watched a few videos on YouTube then searched Amazon for a Hub Puller WOW some are so expensive. I chose this one thinking even if it worked one time it would save me a ton of money! Well it WORKED in less than 5 min my hub was on the ground and it did it without straining. I am sure I will find many uses for this valuable tool!

I used this to remove rotted on rotors from a 2012 mazda3 which is a nightmare without a proper tool to remove them. I tried heat/hammer/and several different penetrants to break it free without luck. This pulled it off very easy. Only complaint is my limited knowledge in using this device and getting it positioned to be able to have it ready to pull . Mind you this is device is heavy and keeping it in position while getting things moving can be difficult.

Used this device to pull seized rotors off of a Dodge Journey. The set up was simple but a little awkward. Got the job done on all 4 rotors that all the hammering pulling could never do. My only complaint is the “instructions”... they were written so badly that it was laughable. The online PDf helped a little... the rest you just have to figure out.

I had 2 stuck rotors on a 2006 jeep wrangler and beating on them can damage bearings and U joints, This puller took a little time to get situated on the rotor and axel but a few pumps and the rotors on both side popped right off. Before you beat up the old rotors to the point they can't be turned try this 5 ton puller.

broke the first time I used it. the ram bent and a few brackets broke for the hydraulic lever. other than that the tool seemed very nice. there is just no way it withstands 10,000 lbs of pressure (5 tons) I wish the tool would've lasted I really liked it and could definitely use it.

Used to take off my wheel hub bearing. This device took it off with no problem. Please be advised, stand as far to the side as you can because you are using a lot of pressure. Once the part breaks loose, it will pop off and possibly injure you if you are in the way. Excellent item
