TP-Link TL-WPS510U 150Mbps Pocket-Sized Wireless Print Server (Black/White)

This was a timely buy for me as it enabled me to use my old HP printer remotely from anywhere in my home.

This device contains a "TP-Link TL-WPS510U 150Mbps Pocket-Sized Wireless Print Server" which is an adapter that can be connected with any Wired Printer and converted into an Wireless Printer. The order was delivered on 27th Oct. I made an attempt of installation of the said device and came across a massive impediment.This device essentially transmits a WiFi signal which is Open (i.e. without a userid and password). The installation utility attempts to connect to this Open/Adhoc WiFi via the Wifi Adapter of the laptop on which I am configuring. Unfortunately, Windows 10 have removed support for Ad-Hoc networks, rendering it impossible to configure the printer server through the installation utility provided with the product in a CD.This crucial fact was suppressed on the Amazon India product page.I am therefore left with no other option other than to return the product and asking for refund. And this is where my ordeal starts with Amazon India.I had to plead to Amazon India and it took me numerous phone calls to explain them that this is an useless product if the user has only Windows 10 laptop to configure this device.

Not working properly in multiple users

Delivery is fine on time.. But the setup on Windows 10 desktop with Wireless adapter is a nightmare. Windows 10 does not support Adhoc connections. This takes a lot of time getting around the setup. I ran into all kind of problems and i am still trying to work it out on my windows machine. and unless i connect to this network i cannot configure i think. So i am really at the crossroads. I will have to plan and spend a full weekend for setup.

Good product

I wanted to get rid of taking my laptop to the printer every time I have to print something. So, when I got this product, the design was not same as in pic. This device is not directly plugged in printer, but comes with a small usb wire and you end up plugging usb wire in printer and this device. This device works with a power adapter which is included in the pack.Setting up is quite easy. First install printer driver on your computer, and after that use cd of this device for setup. First time on first computer you setup this device settings and link your computer to this device. I first set it to get ip automatically but that's a problem. If one of my phone is off, the ip address this device gets changes and you can't print. So, I recommend specifying a particular ip to this device. The second and following comps just need to join this device using cd, setup of this device is not required again.This device works one way only. You can just print using this device. You cannot scan using this device, you will have to use the old method to scan. I don't scan too often so I give 4/5 to this device. I will buy a wifi printer next time.

THis is a very sleek device. As you on the print server, the laptops or other devices have to detect it. However with neither the actual order or the replacement, the print server was detected. I attempted with 2 different windows laptops and 3 different mobile phones(all running android). Finally had to return it in a huff. I presume that it uses some vintage technology which today's wifi devices dont detect. Connecting it to the printer is quite easy however as the print server was never detected, there was no point. Returned the replacement item also in a huff. Waste of time and effort. However as it is a prime product, received full refund, a couple of hours after the return was accepted. So no sweat there.
