Nostalgia in a bottle
I’ve become quite the foodie over the years. It’s great when I have the extra cash to spend on a high end artisanal dressing at a gourmet shop. It’s even better if I can actually find the time to make my own dressing, but that hasn’t happened in seemingly forever. Quite frankly, Wishbone dressings are the best mainstream store bought dressings available, period. The Russian, the Western and the blue cheese are phenomenal. And let’s not forget their famous Italian dressings! I even enjoy the “light” versions, which is much more than I can say about the other name brands. But every once in a while I have a craving for my favorite dressing from childhood; the infamous 1000 island! My food snob friends make fun of me and compare the dressing to a mayonnaise and ketchup mix. But I tell them that they just haven’t tasted a good 1000 island dressing. It’s all about the right ratio of oil and vinegar and egg and pickle relish and... you get the idea. Well, Wishbone makes the best! It’s absolutely perfect on an old school iceberg and red leaf lettuce ‘diner’ salad. And of course it’s terrific on a reuben, and most other kinds of sandwiches. Although most big box stores carry Wishbone dressings, the 1000 island is difficult to find. So I buy it on Amazon for a very reasonable price. Writing this review is making me hungry! Sometimes, I love my kale and arugula tossed with toasted pine nuts and roasted pears. But tonight I think it’s time to take a trip down memory lane, back to the 70’s when a crisp garden salad was the norm not the exception.

Terrific taste
Fantastic, now my reuben sandwiches taste like they should. Everyone puts Thousand Island dressing on them. The correct dressing is Russian Dressing. I am a happy camper!

Works for our Sticky Chicken recipe!
This item is difficult to find at the grocery stores, but I was able to find it on Amazon. It's an ingredient my wife and I use for our "Sticky Chicken" recipe and can't be substituted. It's an easy recipe. Mix a bottle of the Wishbone Russian Dressing, a jar of Apricot Preserves and a package of Lipton Onion Soup. Pour over chicken and bake until done.
