Brilliant!

I do enjoy listening to the radio there is no doubt and I appreciate a good quality sound. I was looking for a small radio with DAB+ and FM and while trawling through manufacturers advertising I found the Roberts Petite 2. Having read glowing reports I decided to give it a go.It arrived on the day I ordered it which is excellent. I eagerly unpacked the radio and had a quick look at the instructions which I found clear and easy to understand. The radio itself is cute, small but perfectly formed and is available in a choice of several colours. It was a doddle to set up including setting radio presets! The quality of sound which comes from this radio is good, no, it's really, really good for something so small. It has a sound which made me think wow, how does something so dinky produce such a big, rich sound like that? I also found it very sensitive and received lots of stations both on DAB and FM.I particularly wanted DAB+ as so many of the new stations only transmit in DAB+. The rechargeable battery was perfect for my needs to...ideal for carrying from room to room and not having to worry about plugging it into the mains. I can also connect a pair of hi-fi stereo headphones to the output socket and the sound is like listening to a full blown hi-fi system! It also features Bluetooth so I was able to send music from my phone to it as well. If I had to nit pick about anything I would say the info screen could have been a little bit bigger. Having said that it certainly isn't a deal breaker for me and with my specs on I can read the text fine. This radio blows me away, it has made me listen to more and more radio stations than I have done in a long time. Perhaps it's the nostalgia trip thing taking me back to listening to the radio under the bed sheets back in the 1960s! You may have guessed by now how much I like it... that's an understatement! Highly recommended!

Cute but powerful

I have two Roberts FM radios' and a teas-made with a built-in FM radio, all three were picking up interference on the particular radio station I like to listen to when I get up. So decided to go for a small DAB radio.Found this little cutie and knowing how good Roberts radio's are (from experience plus I have a DAB radio in the kitchen), I decided to go for it.WOW! is an understatement! Not only did this tune in to my fav., station easily, it doesn't even need the aerial up. And on FM, it picked up the station really well, almost like it was sucking in the signal and boosting it!The tone is beautiful and not tinny. You can set the alarm to wake with either a buzzer or the radio. Mine's set to the radio and it comes on, gently increasing to the volume I set, so you won't jump out your skin! The alarm can be set to weekdays only or everyday. V. useful. It is very portable, very sturdy and has a solid feel to it.Just One gripe is the size of the screen display. But, lets face it, once you set it to your favourite radio station do you really need to look at it?All-in-all it is a lovely bit of kit and I would highly recommend it.

Great sound quality. A joy to use.

Compact and cute. Our old windup/solar radio we used in the garden no longer worked and I was so disappointed at the poor design of current offers - large, chunky, black bricks designed by men I think. This Roberts looked well designed with good reviews particularly for the sound quality and 20 hours of charge. Very impressed with sound quality as we listen mainly to Radio 3,4 and 6 music., Easy to set up and I am not a technical wizard by any means.A joy to use ( and look at ) so great value for money even at just under £100

Cracking little radio!

I'm impressed! awesome quality sound for such a small radio. Pretty simple to use, my only gripe is the the text is pretty small to read without reading glasses, apart from that it's fantastic bit of kit.

Incredible little thing

I’m very familiar with Roberts radios. I already have two Revival RD70s and the sound quality is phenomenal. I had high expectations of the Petite 2 but didn’t really know what to expect of something so small.I’m happy to tell you that it didn’t disappoint one bit. Is the sound quality quite as good as the larger radios? No, it would be unreasonable to expect it to be, given the dimensions of the Petite. However, all of the signature Roberts richness is there. The depth and bass likewise. No distortion or vibration at higher volumes. Quite an achievement from something roughly the size of a block of butter.Incredibly easy to use and get familiar with. The radio has a very premium feel to it and is reassuringly weighty.I suppose at this price point, anything other than a very high quality product would be unacceptable. If you’re wondering whether it’s worth the outlay, it most definitely is.One gripe, for balance, is that the charging cable distorts the signal when plugged in and switched on. I think the cable should have one of those ferrite magnets attached to it to prevent this.I’m delighted with my new radio.
