Great quality machine

Assembly was not as difficult as was seen in various reviews. Instructions could be better but there are assembly videos on line that help if needed. The videos are provided by individuals who have completed assembly of the machine. We completed assembly in about 5 days working primarily in the evenings. I am not an assembler but do assemble many products that I purchase when necessary and did assemble a home gym previously about 25 years ago. Good quality home gym.

Overall I'm very happy with this purchase

Overall I'm very happy with this purchase. Yes this gym is fairly involved to assemble, but if you take your time it's not that hard. I was able to open the boxes and carry the large frame parts to my second story loft. I assembled it myself following the directions in 5 approx. 1-2 hour sessions. If you have the right tools and have reasonable mechanical aptitude you can do this. If not get help of course. The gym works as expected, although like others I did notice the "function training arm" does encroach on the leg press. I could work around it ok (5' 8", 180 lbs) but larger people may have trouble with it. I experienced two minor problems. 1) The chromed metal pipes that the foam (leg) rollers slide onto had burrs on the inside diameters at the ends. Tapping in the plastic end-caps caused them to bind up tight and two broke. Body solid promptly sent me two more end-caps. I reamed and smoothed the burrs out, and slightly reduced the end-cap insert diameters, and they went in fine. 2) I have the gym sitting on short berber carpet instead of a hard flat surface. A 110mm pulley for the lower cable (item C4) rubbed on the carpet and added resistance when using the low cable. Body Solid promptly sent me a new pulley, but unfortunately another 110mm instead of the 90mm I requested. Not to worry, I simply looked over the pulleys and found that I could swap the C4 110mm pulley with a 90mm pulley (item A9). The 110mm pulley in the A9 location worked just fine, and the 90mm pulley in the C4 spot cleared the carpet. Every station functions well, due to a very solid frame and well engineered design.

Work out great - Assembly not so great

First the positive: once you get it up and running, it is a very good to excellent weight machine, and well worth the price when you consider gym memberships etc. It's a real luxury to have one of these in your home, and it's certainly better than having to wait around the gym for your turn on the machine (not to mention dealing with neanderthals and sweaters!).The leg press is okay. It's hard to get a good range of motion. I'm shorter, so I could have used another peg hole to move up closer to the press itself. I'm not much a believer in heavy weights over the long haul (I'm 55 and regret those years on the bench, squat and free weights - all terrible for the joints). This machine puts the right amount of tension for whatever levels and there are countless movements possible for whatever sport you do (mine is cycling). Now for the somewhat bad: it's a real bear to assemble - easily the hardest thing I've ever had to put together. The instructions get you started but get worse as you go along. It's way too easy to put it together incorrectly (and I'm still not sure I have it exactly right). On the plus side, there is good customer service for assembly help. They were responsive and worked through problems by sending pics through emails. That part was satisfying, but they could really use a revision on the manual. It took a loooong time to assemble!

This product was very difficult to assemble. When I saw the instructions, I started laughing. I can assemble most anything, but this was insane. There were no discriptions of parts, step by step assembly was vague. I decided to hire a handyman that had experience assembling these type of products.I belong to two gyms, so I really bought this machine for my son. When I finally decided to workout on the machine, I felt a bump when I was doing pulldowns. I realized that the plastic covering to the cable was getting torn. This product has two holes where the cable travels through. The cable was not centered because the handyman cannot center it. The pulleys are twisted, and we can't figure out why. I was looking at the frame, and it might be off center. Anyway, as the cable was traveling through the pulleys, it rubbed the edge of the hole which is very sharp. This caused the plastic cable cover to tear. So, we cannot workout on the machine because the the steel part of the cable may damage the pulleys.I emailed Fitness Factory relating the the problem, and they are sending a new cable. If the frame is indeed off centered, I will probably will not ship it back. It will too much of a hassle.I'm somewhat disappointed with the product. I was expecting a gym that would work correctly. I'm sure that this is a fine machine when everything fits. Fitness Factory will probably say that the product was not assembled correctly. That is usually the typical response, but maybe not. Besides, I can't get blamed for the assembly part, since I did hire a professional that assembles weight machines ($275.00 dollars later). But on the positive side, they are adhearing to the warrenty. Without questions. If your a handyman, and everything fits correctly, you have a very good and productive weight machine.I did rate the product low, but Fitness Factory has been very helpful. No complaints about them.Cheers,David

Excellent for price, very good for exercises

Good quality construction thruout, except for the seat and back cushions, kinda cheap base material, but the covers are alright. Assembly was not so bad, The instructions for leg press attachment were inaccurate, but assembly still went ok. All the multiple exercises seem anatomic (physiologic) except still haven't figure out a good way to do good leg curls. Wish it came with examples of exercises. The arms for chest get in the way slightly, but you get used to it. Overall for the return on investment; priceless. The equipment is excellent for the price.
